Every Access Point Is Only as Fast as Its Cable
A Wi-Fi 6 access point can theoretically push over a gigabit, but if it's connected back to the switch over an old Cat5e run, that's the actual ceiling — regardless of how new or expensive the access point is. The wireless spec on the box is a best-case number the cabling behind it has to support.
Density Is the Real Bottleneck, Not Speed
Most "slow Wi-Fi" complaints in offices aren't a bandwidth problem — they're a density problem. Too many devices on too few access points, spaced too far apart, because the original design under-cabled the floor to save cost. Access points, IP phones, PA speakers, and PTZ cameras increasingly run on PoE — power and data over the same cable. That means your cabling plan isn't just a networking decision anymore; it's an electrical one too, and it needs switches with enough PoE budget to actually power everything connected to them.
